New, New, New…
Antigua is eagerly anticipating the arrival of The Verandah, in September. Part of the Elite Island Resorts group, the 200-room property is situated on 30 spectacular waterfront acres, hidden away on the untouched north-east coast of Antigua. Very much a family resort, children are welcomed in their very own dedicated restaurant with a children’s menu, a kids club for children and screenings of popular kids movies in the mini-cinema.

Jump-up at Antigua’s 50th Carnival (21 July – 7 August)
Pack your bags, grab your passport and get ready to party like its 2007. Antigua celebrates its 50th Anniversary of Carnival this year and visitors can experience the heart throbbing sounds and “jump up” until the early hours. Just make sure you bring the Alka-Seltzer!

Save the date – Agent event in London (28 September)
The tourist office is hosting a very special event at the exquisite Café Royal to showcase weddings and honeymoons in Antigua and Barbuda. It will provide an excellent opportunity to meet with hotels, tour ops and airlines. With loads of prizes to be won including a special one for ‘Cheesiest Wedding Outfit’, the day promises to be a not-to-be-missed event. More information will follow shortly.


World Travel Market (12-15 November)
Come visit the tourist office on stand CA2020, you will be in great company! This year we will have our ambassadors for the islands, Antiguan cricketing legends Sir Viv Richards and Richie Richardson and there will be some events on stand for travel agents on Wednesday and Thursday, so do drop by.


Wedding & Honeymoon FAM Trip (7-14 December)
Following the huge success of the inaugural Wedding and Honeymoon FAM trip last year, the tourist office will be hosting the second FAM trip dedicated to weddings and honeymoons in December with approximately 20 agents attending. FAMILY NEWS & SPECIAL OFFERS

The only way to get around on the private island resort of Jumby Bay, www.jumbybayresort.com, is by foot, bike or golf buggy, making it a safe place for kids. At Curtain Bluff, www.curtainbluff.com, teenagers can take part in a wide range of interesting activities including learning to deep sea fish and play tennis. Scuba diving for any qualified young divers is complimentary and sailing lessons are also on the teenager activity menu using one of Curtain Bluff’ yachts. Caribtours (www.caribtours.co.uk; 0207 751 0660) offers one week at Curtain Bluff, Antigua from £8,418 per family (based on 2 adults & 2 children ages up to 16 yrs sharing) in two Deluxe Rooms on an All-Inclusive basis for stay between 1 - 20 July or 19 - 31 August 2007. This includes return World Traveller flights with British Airways, return private transfers and complimentary lounge pass for London departure.

At Sunsail’s Club Colonna (www.sunsail.co.uk/clubs; 0870 112 8487) one child under the age of 17 goes free for every two full paying adults. One week at Sunsail’s Club Colonna departing on 27 July, 3 August, 10 August and 17 August costs £4,077 for a family of four.  Price includes all taxes and represents a saving of £1,159.  The price includes half board accommodation, return economy flights from Gatwick, free Kid’s Clubs for children aged 2-17yrs, use of Sunsail’s watersports equipment, fitness, tennis, spa and lots more. Sunsail’s Club Colonna in Antigua has just opened its brand new kids club complete with a life size pirate’s ship for some real swashbuckling fun!

Seasons in Style (01244 202 000, www.seasonsinstyle.com) is offering the following special family promotions this summer and into the autumn. Stay 7 nights at Blue Waters and pay for 6 from £1480 per adult and £515 per child saving up to £420 per family of three. Price includes accommodation in a Hillside Junior Suite, breakfast, British Airways flights from London Gatwick and private transfers. Valid until 30 Sept 07 and based on two adults and one child sharing. Stay 7 nights at Carlisle Bay from £2275 per adult and £795 per child saving up to £1060 per family of four. Price includes accommodation in a Beach Terrace, half board plus afternoon tea, British Airways flights from London Gatwick and private transfers. Valid until 02 Nov 07 and based on two adults and two children sharing.

Rex Resorts, www.rexresorts.com, is offering special deals at two of their beach- front properties, Hawksbill and Halcyon Cove. A week staying at Hawksbill by rex resorts costs from £799 per adult or £469 per child when booked with Lets Go 2 Travel (www.letsgo2.com; 0871 208 0849). This is based on departures between 19-31 August and includes seven nights’ all inclusive accommodation, return flights, resort transfers and taxes.   

Virgin Holidays (www.virginholidays.com; 0871 222 0304) is offering a megadeal this summer at Halcyon Cove by rex resorts with kids staying and eating free until September 2007. A seven night stay, departing between 19-31 August, costs from £989 per adult and from £449 per child under 12 and includes return Virgin Atlantic flights from London Gatwick, transfers and accommodation on an all-inclusive basis. This is based on two adults travelling and sharing a room.

Carlisle Bay, www.carlisle-bay.com, has a complimentary children’s club for those ages 3-12.

Elegant Resorts, (www.elegantresorts.co.uk; 01244 897516) is offering a seven night stay from £2,525 per adult and from £910 per child (based on two adults and two children under the age of 16 sharing). This is based on a 13 August 2007 departure, staying in a beach suite on a B&B basis with return economy flights from London Gatwick with British Airways and transfers.
